Filipino American Law Enforcement Annual JD DeGuzman Memorial Scholarship Dinner October 13th
The Filipino American Law Enforcement Association (FALEO) will hold its 5th Annual JD DeGuzman Memorial Scholarship Dinner October 13, 2018 at the Marriott Mission Valley starting at 600 PM. FALEO is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 organization. FALEO was established to promote fraternal relationships and cultural awareness among all members (sworn and non-sworn) in law enforcement. FALEO was originally established in San Francisco. Membership is comprised of various local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Currently, FALEO has three chapters: San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.
The San Diego Chapter was established in 2012. Throughout the years they have experienced steady growth in membership and demonstrated consistent acts of charity. FALEO-SD empowers its members to become great leaders through community outreach. To achieve these goals FALEO-SD engages its membership by sponsoring various events open to all.
These events include a yearly scholarship awards dinner and "Gifts for Families" during the Christmas season. Other projects include sending care packages to the Philippines to assist victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and to families of the "fallen SAF-44," and monetary donations to the Filipino American Educators Association (FILAMEDA) for scholarships. FALEO also hosted a 5k run in 2013 for charity. The chapter will soon hold monthly socials and have an annual family picnic for its membership and friends.
FALEO-SD is recognized by the community and embraced by the people they serve. Membership is open to sworn as well as non-sworn law enforcement personnel. If interested, please go to their web site at faleosandiego.org. Volunteers are also needed to assist FALEO in the various projects.
Sincerely, Susan delos Santos Marketing Director The Filipino Press.
